I.   QUALIFICATIONS

Five to eight years solid economic development experience.  Requires a minimum of a college degree in related field. Experience in doing business development in international markets. Experience in working with international corporations and managing prospects to successful deal completion.  Ability to travel extensively outside of the United States.  Valid Driver License and Passport.  Demonstrated management expertise with volunteer groups.  Ability to organize, direct and manage in house staff teams.  Exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills.  Excellent oral and written communications skills.  Computer literate.  Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.  Competency in client management software.

 

II.  POSITION SUMMARY

Direct and manage all lead generating activities focused toward new investment, and business alliance opportunities nationally and internationally.  Work in close cooperation with all local ED staffs, MEDC and Detroit regional businesses to successfully close deals.  Assist with "concierge" service for prospects, site consultants and other corporate real estate executives.

 

III.  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (or FUNCTIONS):

Develop an annual plan to generate sufficient leads to meet program goals.

 

Develop an annual budget to adequately finance lead generating activities.

 

Develop international business prospects through networking, research, working trade shows and international seminars; hosting international events; and direct calls on manufacturers and multipliers.

 

Maintain a complete database on all prospects.

 

Development of customized proposal for leads and prospects.

 

Turn prospects into deals in partnerships with local and state economic development partners.  

 

Develop program awareness by participating in reporting and marketing efforts of the Economic Development group and maintaining liaison with public and private economic development partners.

 

Provide assistance with other activities of the Business Attraction team and the Detroit Regional Chamber as necessary.
